SPEECH BUBBLE

speech bubble

uses the form of a cartoon speech bubble to open a public conversation on the street. It bring video art from  the New Museum to the sidewalk – where people can publicly love it, diss it, reinterpret it, or create their own messages.

SPEECHBUBBLE IS AN OPEN…UMBRELLA!!!
It has a simple structure, ready-made to create shade (for the vendors, events, and projections).

SPEECHBUBBLE IS AN OPEN…DIALOGUE!!!
The bubbles free the New Museum from the confines of the white box, allowing passersby to engage with art and share their comments.

SPEECHBUBBLE IS AN OPEN…FORUM!!!
Anyone can upload a comment onto the bubbles – a video art suggestion, a reminder for an event, a complaint about dog poop on the street.

SPEECHBUBBLE IS AN OPEN…PLAN!!!
The bubbles themselves move around, and reconfigure to create a variety of spaces.
Instead of enclosures, a drip edge protects from the rain, allowing lines of sight underneath the bubbles.

SPEECHBUBBLE IS OPEN…FOR BUSINESS!!!
Vendors have a 360 degree space around them, maximizing what they can display to the public. They also have a built-in signboard above them and can take over the projections at intervals with their own logos and/or videos.

SPEECHBUBBLE IS OPEN…TO INTERPRETATION!!!
It’s a free mobile art exhibit.
it’s a community forum.
It’s a promotional tool.
It’s a series of proposals for a better Bowery.
